Reno, just passing through... Just. Passing. Through.

Found Washoe Public House, basically empty except for a very odd but happy human sitting outside getting faded on what looked to be a well made libation... We walk in and HELL YES!! the smell alone was the real deal, the bartender/owner(?) sure acted like he owned the place, in a very good way! Was awesome and offered up some great choices for us, we had a few drinks, met a nice couple from The Planet Earth who came in and we really had a great time! The food was, well... SPECTACULAR! Everything house made, local and fresh as fresh can be! We wanted to eat one of e everything on the Menu! Great beer selection and even better mixed drink menu! Very much recommend this gem!

In Reno for work. We were looking for some place different and with seafood as an option. My friend stumbled upon WPH (Washoe Public House) and we decided to try it. Weather was perfect and the outdoor patio was inviting. Off the street but not a busy street so car noise and exhaust NOT an issue. Nice view of this new restaurant area. Dog friendly patio too which as a dog lover I applaud even though I didn't have a dog with me. Just an observation.

We ordered the warm beet salad to start and to split. A highlight of the evening! Warmed multicolored beets with a champagne drizzle, toasted hazelnuts and baked Brie with field greens and it was pure perfection.

They have a new menu that we lucked out in discovering on the night it debuted. Everything looked amazing! A very interesting menu and we found out the chef has a fine dining background and was looking for a new place he could expand his creative wings. The menu reflected that. We were excited to explore.

I ordered the fresh Pacific swordfish and it was cooked to perfection. A light sauce and wild rice was just right. The swordfish melted in my mouth. My friend ordered the elk chops and ordered it medium rare and no cherry glaze (she doesn't like sauce of any kind on her meat!). She also asked for cheesy grits instead of the potatoes and she said everything was also perfect.

So now I have bookmarked this place and hope to return again my next trip to Reno. Definitely recommend for the foodie in all of us!

For months, I've had Washoe Public House marked as a place to visit after reading reviews from my fellow Yelpers, Donna B and Mike B. My family and I were finally able to try them for lunch on a Friday afternoon.

Since it was nice day, we asked to be seated outside. Our waitress was friendly and efficient - and didn't forget about us as can sometimes happen when we're out of sight.

We started with the pork belly egg rolls as an appetizer: two egg rolls cut in half with a side of hot & sweet mustard. The egg rolls were good and the sauce was amazing.

My daughter had the tri-tip bowl which came with asparagus, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a chimichurri sauce. While she liked the tri-tip, the avocado was unripe and sauce a bit over-powering.

My son tried the Washoe burger: a 1/2 lb. patty with lettuce, tomatoes, carmelized onions, bacon, white Cheddar, and beer mustard in a Challah bun. Cooked medium-rare, the burger was flavorful and huge! It also came with a side of fries - which were seasoned nicely and perfectly crispy.

Hubby had the pork belly bahn mi sandwich on a French roll. It had generous slices of pork belly, a delicious sauce, and wonderfully soft bread!  He too had the fries and enjoyed them as much as my son did.

I had a small order of warm beet salad: roasted beets with hazlenuts, a slice of brie, some greens, in a Champagne reduction. It was delicious!  Plus, I had the BLTA: crispy bacon, lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and ripe avocado with grilled bread. That, too, was delicious and fresh!

Overall, the food and experience was great and I'm glad we finally marked Washoe Public House off our foodie list!

Based on what i had an atmosphere ill give it 4 stars. It was a bit cold inside. Maybe because of weather and about 10 min in it started hailing and raining. Which brought the outside people in. Which rose the volume inside. I ended up cutting my meal short cause the noise was to much and asked to pack my meal to go. The waiter asked me 4 times what i ordered to make sure he got it right. Maybe he couldnt hear himself think.

The food ... started with the scotch egg... it was just ok. Paired with a stoney mustard. Wasnt a fan. Kind of bland. Irish nachos were decent. Kind of bland could of used a little heat. The Thai chicken confit salad was good. Wish it was a bit warmer for chicken and veggies. But flavor was good. Added Rock candy short ribs which were good but super sweet. If u get a tooth ache from sweet stuff do not order. It sticks to the teeth.

The drink... Not your mothers rhubarb... tasted like alcohol and ginger beer. Couldnt taste the rhubarb to suttle. But it was a stiff drink.

The dessert... their grandma geraghty lemon cake
Best ate just put of the kitchen. Crunchy outside dense lemon middle. Topped with creme fresh. And blueberries to compliment. (If you eat later it becomes super dense)

Im willing to try it on a diffrent day. Seemed to be an off day.

We are always looking for places with good food, drinks and a dog friendly porch and Washoe Public House has all three! We came here on a dog friendly date night had a lovely time. On the patio there is plenty of space and each table that is in the direct sun, has its own umbrella, which is nice for those super sunny days.

The Husband had their Caesar salad with anchovies as a starter and we both had the Washoe Burger for dinner. He did the all beef patty and I did the mixed burger. Both were delicious as were their fries, but their home made pickles are amazing! They have a light spice on one side and would be amazing in a  Bloody Mary!

Their service was both friendly and timely. I asked for ranch because I eat everything humanly possible with this dip and the waitress brought out a side of the lemon aioli which she enjoys as a dip.  I thought this was a kind gesture and both dips complimented the fries. She was also kind enough to bring a big bowl of cool water for our pup which he enjoyed.

If you haven't been here before, the food is amazing, the drinks are good and the fact that it's dog friendly is a big win in my book!
